The sky stayed empty until late morning, when the first cloud drifted over and thickened for a spell before breaking up again. Afternoon warmed to near 74° under a lid that came and went. A light easterly kept the heat honest. By evening the cloud closed over once more and the warmth lingered late into the dark.
