Cold that did not move. The small hours held near 0°F under a clear sky and the air was still enough that the cold simply sat on you. Dawn came late and pale. A band of cloud crossed near 11am and took the little warmth the low sun had offered, then the sky opened again and stayed open through the short afternoon. The light went early and hard.
