Grey came in before the light did. The small hours sat near 28° with a thin cloud cover that thickened by dawn until the whole sky was one lid. Nothing lifted after that. Afternoon eased to near 38° and the air stayed damp enough to feel on the face without any rain in it. Toward evening the wind picked up and leaned steadily from one side, stiff gusts. The air turned oddly softer as the dark came, a little warmer at 10pm than it had been at eleven in the morning.
