Opening of the Innsbruck Winter Olympics

Cold and still before dawn, the air near 8°F with a damp haze lying over everything and not a breath of wind. The sun came up into a clear sky. It warmed the day slowly and then quickly, the air up near 19° by noon and near 27° by late afternoon with the sky empty and the light on every slope. Almost mild by then. Evening cleared it all away and the cold came back fast, near 13° by late evening and still falling.
