No cool anywhere in the small hours. The air sat near 84° and stuck to the skin, a south breeze moving it around without helping. Dawn came early and clear. The heat built through the morning and by 1pm it was near 96° and hard to breathe in, the kind that sits on the chest. The wind rose in the late afternoon with gusts that pulled at flags and the cloud thickened behind it. Nothing fell. Evening eased hardly at all, the air as wet at midnight as it had started and nearly as warm.
