Clear at midnight with a warm south wind, then cloud before dawn. The small hours sat near 66° and damp. Warmth built fast under the cloud and by mid-afternoon it was near 89°, the air heavy enough to feel in the lungs. Late in the afternoon the rain began, and at 6pm a thunderstorm came down in sheets, nearly two inches in the hour with gusts that bent the trees. It eased and came back hard again after dark. By late evening the sky was tearing open and the air had fallen into the sixties.
