Pre-satellite record — solid, not exact. The Whitefish Pt station, 18 mi away, recorded no rain that day, where the model above shows some; put the low at 36°F, 12° from the model. Where they differ, trust the station.

Mild and quiet in the small hours, the air near 46°F with a light wind and the sky half clear. The morning brought some sun. By afternoon cloud had closed over and the air held near 44°, and around 5pm a cold rain began as the wind swung up and started to build. Then it rose fast. Through the evening the gusts grew harder by the hour, the air near 37° and the rain driving through the dark.
