Cold and bone-dry before dawn, the air near 39° under a clear sky. The sun changed it fast. By early afternoon it was near 72° with the air so dry the lips cracked and the hills stood out sharp as cut paper. A breeze from the north picked up through the afternoon. Not a cloud all day.
