Cold and clear before dawn, the air near 35° with a west wind already at work. The sun came up into an empty sky and did little. The wind built through the morning and by afternoon the wind was strong, enough to lean on at the corners, the air feeling no warmer than 40°. Cloud passed over for an hour and went. Evening was clear and sharp and the wind eased only a little as the cold settled in.
