Cold and windy from the first hour, the air feeling like 16° below zero before dawn under a clear sky with a strong wind down the slope. The wind kept rising. By early afternoon it blew hard and gusty and cloud closed over the mountain, the feel only climbing to about 3° below, and the sky cleared again after seven as the wind eased a little. Near 11° below at midnight.
