Opening of the Grenoble Winter Olympics

Grey and raw from the first hour, the air near 32°F under a full sky with gusts that found every gap. A cold rain began before dawn. It fell light and steady through the whole morning, never heavy, the air creeping only to near 35° and the wet getting into everything. Then it stopped around noon. The cloud split in the early afternoon and the sun came through hard and low, the air up near 39° by late afternoon, before cloud drifted back after dark and the evening settled near 34° with the gusts still up.
