Warm and thick before dawn. The air sat near 87° and felt heavier than that, wet enough that nothing dried overnight. Dawn came under a mostly clear sky and the heat built without pause. By 3pm it was near 97°, the kind of heat that sits on the chest. An east wind pushed through with gusts hard enough to feel and gave a little relief. The sky stayed open. Evening eased only a little and the damp stayed with it into the small hours.
