Opening of the St. Moritz Winter Olympics

Cold in the small hours under a low full sky, the air near 13°F and barely moving. Grey held past sunrise. Then from mid-morning the cloud thinned and tore apart, and by 1pm the sun came down hard with not a cloud left over the valley, the air creeping up toward 22° by mid-afternoon. Bitter still. The ceiling closed again before dusk and the evening was dim and heavy, the cold settling back toward the teens.
