Cold and dry in the small hours, the air near 43° and feeling colder under a clear sky. Dawn came sharp. The sun had real strength in it and by late morning the chill was gone. A wind rose from the north through the middle of the day, strong gusts at their peak, with cloud passing over in broken sheets. The air topped near 64° and was so dry it cracked the lips. The wind eased with the light. Evening was clear and cooling.
