Rain in the small hours, heaviest near 2am, with the air near 80°F and thick as a wet cloth. It eased toward dawn but did not stop for long. Showers came and went through the morning and the heat took over between them, near 81° under a sky that never opened. More rain fell as the day went, an inch and a half of it by the end. Barely a breath of wind until late afternoon. Evening eased a little and the wet stayed in everything.
Pre-satellite record — solid, not exact. The Brazzaville station, 8 mi away, recorded 1.59 in of rain that day, more than the model above shows. Where they differ, trust the station.
