Rare Snowfall at the Colosseum

Rain at midnight on a strong wind, the air near 29°F and falling. By 3am the rain had turned to snow and it came down hard through the dark and on past dawn, thick and sideways, the air near 18° by breakfast and the gusts driving it into every doorway. Everything went white and quiet. Before noon the snow thinned and stopped and by early afternoon the sky had cleared, sun on every roof and the wind still cutting, the air near 23° at its best. It stayed clear. The cold deepened once the light went, under stars.
