The wind was up before the light, a west wind gusting hard with the air near 55°F and cloud in pieces overhead. Morning came cool and unsettled. By mid-afternoon it was near 67° under a sky that kept changing, a strong wind rattling flags and the sun breaking through for a minute at a time. It stayed that way until dusk. Evening calmed and cleared and the air cooled back toward 60°.
