Fog in the small hours, hanging on the Meuse until well past eight in the morning, the air near 36° and damp enough to feel colder. It lifted slowly. By early afternoon the cloud had broken into patches and the day warmed a few degrees toward 41°, a pale winter sun getting through for an hour or two before the cloud closed again for the evening.
