Deep cold and no sky. The forest sat under an unbroken sheet of cloud from the first hour to the last, the light never rising above a dim grey. It stayed near 5° all day and even that was hopeful, the air drifting toward zero after dark with almost no wind to move it. Nothing fell. Nothing changed.
