Hot before the sun was up, near 86°F under a broken grey ceiling, the air thick enough to notice on the stairs. The cloud thinned through the morning and was gone by noon. From then on the sun had everything, the air feeling near 97° by early afternoon and staying there, a wet heat with almost no wind that sat on the skin rather than passing through. No shade helped much. Evening took the sun away and nothing else, the air still near 91° at dusk and hardly lower at midnight.
