The Miracle of Istanbul

Mild and damp in the small hours, the air near 63°F and so wet that a haze hung over everything, the sky half covered and still. Fog thickened with the dawn. It sat low through the whole morning, the air near 66° in it and nothing moving, before it thinned toward midday into drifting cloud and a wind got up behind it. Hard wind by late afternoon. The air fell away in the gusts to near 57° by 6pm, and the evening stayed breezy and cool under a half-open sky, the damp coming back as the wind eased late.
