Clear and cold in the small hours, the air falling toward 4° below zero by first light under a sky with nothing in it. Once the sun cleared the ridges the air warmed quickly for how thin it was, near 28° by late afternoon, the light hard and bright and the shade still cold. Not a cloud in any direction. It cooled just as fast when the sun dropped, the cold coming back within the hour and the stars out thick.
